PROGRAM DIRECTOR- CURRENTLY HIRING

We are seeking a strong candidate passionate about victims services and non-profit work with leadership skills.

Role Description

The Program Director will oversee the implementation and management of programs for victims of violence, coordinate advocacy efforts, oversee shelter operations, and raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence issues in the community. In coordination with Executive Director, the PD will direct, administer, and coordinate all VVIP direct service activities, schedule staff meetings, Crisis Line and manage day-to-day direct service and shelter operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in program management, advocacy, and raising awareness

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and community partners

  • Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence issues and prevention strategies

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or related field is a plus

  • Experience in a supervisory role and non-profit work

  • Sensitivity and awareness of various local cultures of clients

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and skills in community resource coordination

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, able to perform duties with speed and accuracy, handle multiple tasks at once, work well under pressure, sound judgment and decision-making skills, courteous and helpful, strong team player, maintain confidentiality.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, databases

  • Valid driver’s license

Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:

1. Supervise direct service staff, shelter coordinator, interns and volunteers, develop and maintain staff and crisis line schedules, training new direct service staff, provide ongoing professional development of staff in areas of domestic violence and sexual assault

2. Participate and coordinate speaking engagements, community meetings, undertake public education and awareness activities

-Oversee Sexual Assault Response Team coordination

-Oversee Support Group coordination

3. Identify and network with community partners and other service agencies to

-Create collaborative, community-based approach to serving survivors

-Build community awareness of available resources and services

4. Identify and develop new opportunities for growth of programs and services

-Develop new program areas to better serve clients

-Evaluate ongoing program services and recommend changes when needed

5. Develop and implement policies and practices with adherence to agency protocol and ensure the ongoing operation of all current programming

6. Oversee the accurate documentation and data reporting of services provided

7. Maintain documentation of services as required by grantors

-Oversee client management, record keeping and complying with reporting requirements from grantors

-Completing data entry and maintaining database and reporting as required

8. Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure quality of services, assist with and develop special projects, and assist with identifying funding needs

9. Assist with shelter, on-site crisis work and crisis line coverage as needed

10. Promote positive VVIP public image. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the VVIP Board of Directors.

CRISIS LINE HOTLINE ADVOCATE- NOT CURRENTLY HIRING

Summary of Duties: To provide high quality and trauma informed call reception during VVIP non-business hours. Be a voice to assist someone in crisis and provide resources.

Be on call one week night a week and one weekend a month.

Scheduled hours: 4:30 pm until 8:00 am Monday-Thursday; 4:30 pm Friday until 8:00 am Monday, or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday. If a holiday, must be able to answer the phone all day and night.

Compensation: $30 per weeknight, $60 per holiday, $120 per weekend

 

Qualifications:

▪          Certification or degree in human services and/or related field, OR relevant professional experience.

▪          Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence and sexual assault issues.

▪          Sensitivity and awareness of various local cultures of clients.

 Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:

1.       During specified hours, be available to; answer the on-call phone, go to the shelter if necessary to assist advocate with check-in, provide support, resources, education, and advocacy services, and complete all required paperwork.

2.       Be available to answer the phone via the REACH app from 4:30 PM- 8:00 AM and respond as needed. Must be able to answer the phone in a quiet setting. Must be in cell service coverage area.

3.       Promote positive VVIP public image.

4.       Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by VVIP.

ADVOCATE- NOT CURRENTLY HIRING

Victims of Violence Intervention Program, operating Artemis House Shelter, is seeking a full-time advocate to join our team.

The Advocate will work closely with survivors of domestic and sexual violence to gain access to resources and services needed to heal, recover and establish a successful life following violence. The advocate will primarily provide advocacy services to individuals who are currently residing in the shelter.

Recommended Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (Human Services or related field preferred.)

Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:

1.       Assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and/or dating violence in accessing any services or support they need to recover following an instance of violence. Provide services to clients in seeking shelter to include:

o   Assisting clients in accessing financial assistance and obtaining housing

o   Assisting clients in navigating criminal justice and court proceedings, including obtaining protection orders

o   Providing emergency room advocacy for clients in need of medical attention

o   Identifying safe housing

o   Safety planning with clients

o   Transporting clients where needed

o   Connecting clients to outside services and community resources

o   Facilitate weekly in shelter support group to include life skills and outside resource providers

2.       Coordinated Community Response and Networking

o   Network and build effective working relationships between VVIP and relevant stakeholders such as: law enforcement, the medical community, other community service providers, schools and public agencies

o  Assist in the development and collaboration of community services to meet client needs

3.       Awareness and Education

o   Design and implement an outreach and awareness strategy to ensure the public in the service area are aware of VVIP services, reach survivors in need and contribute to public awareness about domestic and sexual violence prevention

4. Promote and lead in shelter Support Group for DV/SA survivors

5.       Assist with shelter and on-site crisis work as deemed necessary.

6.       Identify program needs, opportunities for employee training, volunteer recruitment and communicate suggestions to Program Director

7.       Assist with crisis line coverage on a rotation basis

8..       Assist with client management, record keeping and other duties as assigned.

9.   Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the VVIP Board of Directors.

Advocates are expected to be on call to attend to crisis intervention work at least one weekend per month and one night a week. Starting base rate of pay is $18.25/hr with potential for increase DOE/DOQ.
